Rakesh Jain, Managing Partner

Rakesh Jain is the Managing Partner of Green Brook Capital Management LLC ("GBCM"), the advisor to a private investment fund focused on providing flexible private debt and equity capital solutions to middle market companies undergoing a range of special situations.

Prior to forming GBCM, Mr. Jain was a Principal with Stone Tower Equity Partners, a $2.5 billion private equity and distressed credit fund affiliated with Stone Tower Capital, a credit-oriented alternative asset management firm with over $20 billion in assets under management (sold to Apollo Global Management in January 2012). Mr. Jain has over 17 years of principal investment experience having made a number of leveraged buyout, growth equity, credit and distressed investments across a range of industries in the U.S., Canada and Europe and has served on the Board of Directors of several private companies. Mr. Jain has been involved in sourcing new opportunities, structuring investments, developing value creation plans and working closely with the management teams and boards of directors of portfolio companies.

Previously, Mr. Jain was a Director at Citigroup Private Equity (CPE), a division of Citigroup Alternative Investments, where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating and monitoring private equity, mezzanine debt and strategic financial services investments on behalf of Citigroup Capital Partners II ($3.3 billion in equity) and Citigroup Mezzanine Partners ($700 million). Prior to joining CPE, Mr. Jain was a Director at a private equity partnership formed by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, General Atlantic Partners and The Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Jain began his career in the Financial Institutions Group at Morgan Stanley & Co. Mr. Jain graduated with a B.Com in Economics and Finance (Honors) from McGill University.

Manish C. Shah, Partner

Manish C. Shah is a Partner with GBCM and has been a principal or advisor in numerous special situation transactions through multiple economic cycles.  Recently, Mr. Shah acquired and advised on debt and equity investments for a New Jersey/New York area alternative asset manager with a focus on hospitality services. Mr. Shah and his partners advised or invested in over $100 million of debt transactions.  In addition, he made several investments in preferred/equity positions in other industries including technology and financial services.   

Previously, Mr. Shah executed a turnaround of a publicly traded company (ticker: STLW), where he was responsible for acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, reengineering operations and litigation.  Mr. Shah, as senior turnaround executive, helped bring the company back to profitability through a shift toward higher margin services/ products via acquisitions and a redirection of internal resources.  At the same time, Mr. Shah served as fiduciary trustee and senior advisor to the McGinley Family Trusts, enabling them to exit their shares in Methode Electronics (ticker: METH), a technology enabler in the auto-parts industry and parent company of STLW, at a 100% premium to market price via a successful corporate realignment.   

Mr. Shah spent several years on Wall Street, as a Senior Vice President with Bear Stearns and prior to that, at Morgan Stanley in technology investment banking.  He has executed private equity transactions and advised on numerous M&A and financing transactions for public and private companies.  His M&A experience includes hostile, dual class and distressed transactions ranging from $30 million to $30 billion in size, and his financing experience includes high yield debt, bank loan and REIT transactions.

Mr. Shah graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, and graduated with honors and distinction in two majors from Yale University.  He has been an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson and a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneur (TIE) Group.
